Sierra Pinto Wiring Diagram and Distributor Timing Instructions Wanted

Hi All

I've offerred to help a fellow competitor change his Pinto engined Fury over to a conactless ignition system / Bosch distributor off a Pinto Sierra. I've also suggested that we do this in the paddock overnight between two events!

I used to have a Sierra Haynes manual (but never owned a Sierra so don't know where that came from!) but can't find it. Could anybody scan and email / post the relevant wiring diagram and anything about setting up the distributor / ignition timing.

I could buy another Haynes manual I suppose but I know the old one would turn up the same day and as I'm doing this as a favour I'm too tight :-)

Thanks in advance

Wyn

Just be aware there are 2 types of electronic dizzy. Inductive and hall effect. You dont want the hall effect.

Hall effect has plug on dizzy body. Inductive has 3 leads with plug on the end.

Try doing a search. Some diags and pictures are on here somewhere.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the prompt responses - I'll check with my mate to see what he's bought off eBay

Just to add

When my pinto was 1st set up to get started the engine was TDC on number 1 pot, this should give you a reading on the cam spocket arrow pointing at the dot marked on the head.

There is a cut out on the dizzy casing which is lined up when the rotor gets on the dizzy cam for number 1 plug, from memory when standing at the front of the car looking over the dizzy the rotor is kind of 1 o-clock, then its onto the the timing light when running.

One point is when i changed my cam belt and dizzy at a later date i managed to bugger it up,i was TDC on number one pot but on the wrong stroke, you will know this as it stuggles to turn over on the starter.

I'm sure one of the pinto experts will be along but i hope this has helped
