Pinto battery
What do people reckon is the right craking amps and reserve for a Pinto engined locost. I have seen a couple of batterries that I could put down the
side of the engine but they are pretty low capacity.

Hi Caber, I've used an 075 which is the modern equivalent of the one used in the Cortina. It is a big battery but not expensive and produces
huge amounts of cranking power. I'll let you have the dimensions if it is of interest.

As long as then engine doesn't need to be turned over for ages, pretty much any well charged car battery should start it.
My CVH engine can be started with my Maplins jump starter which is only 17AH.

I bought me one of these... link
at Detling. the guy asked exactly what spec the car was and suggested that this was the battery i should go for. So far it is untested though...
(does look good in it's ally bracket though )

I used a 30 Ah motorcycle battery (quit little) and works fine. I have a zetec 1.8. I think if your engine takes few second to start running every
battery can be ok. If your engine have lots of difficult to start than it is preferible to have a bigger battery.
