Battery Choice
Just after a suitable battery for a 2L Pinto (with Megajolt). Any recommendations for a battery (as small as possible) - what car are others using the
battery from??
Cheers

boils down to how much you wanna pay
choice is:
1. small lead acid from halfords/other car place
2. large bike lead acid or ride on lawnmower battery
3. gel battery
option 3 is gives smallest battery with most oopmf but at most price. you can pick up odyssey pc 680 for about £ 60 - seach forum for more info.

Thanks guys. I'll have a look in Halfrauds for the smallest 35amp one and then go and buy a better cheaper on at the autofactor across the road.
Need to keep an eye on the budget as its not my car.

I got an Odyssey PC680 as recommended by several people: fairly light, small, and can be turned upside down and won't spill. I paid $146
canadian for it (divide by 2 for you).

if you go small normal battery, check to see what they fit
some are a lot more common than others of a similar size, but opposite handed terminal wise
always handy if you want on in a hurry, when everywhere else is shut

I bought my 35 amp hour battery for £35 from my local news agent.
The strange thing was I only popped in for some tropical fish food.

Lots of useful information here:
http://www.barden-uk.com/car-batteries.html
Under the varta and powermax links there are varta pdf's matching batteries to applications.
Not sure if their prices are competitive, but the information is great (the Odyssey batteries they sell seem quite expensive compared to the prices
some here have paid).
The best size/performance/weight/price choice amongst the car batteries would probably be the:
Varta Black 063 A17 207x175x175mm 11.17kg
