wiring fog light switch

It aint over just yet fellas, run to the fills it's the electrical numpty

I have four wires to connect to my rear fog light switch.

they are:

red
black
blue yellow
blue red

red I believe is permenant live, black is earth, blue/yellow goes to fog light, blue/red is headlights.

Here is my problem, my fog switch only has 3 connections

positive in - red/blue? as I take it you shouldn't be able to have fog on without lights
feed out to light - blue/yellow
an earth - black ?

So what is the red(permenant live) for? does it need connecting and if so where to? logic says to the +'ve in but how will that affect things?

Any help much appreciated

Cheers
Nigel

So

Red is normally side lights isn't it?
Black is earth (for the fog light indicator lamp if its built into the switch)

sorry stand corrected, red is indeed side lights

so should the blue/red and red just connect to the input +'ve of the switch so if either are on the fog can be on?

Thanks
Nigel

The foglight can come on with side lights. Alternatively if you wire it to come on with headlights make sure you tap into the feed to the relay or it will end up flashing on/off according to dip/main.

Generally Rear Fog/s are only to come on when Headlights are on.

Front fogs come on when Sidelights are on...

yeah I'd agree that they should only come one with the main lights and not the sides
