Just a weird thing I've noticed. I've just sold my car and I'm getting my next one next week, I'm probably going to be cancelling whats left (two months) as it was a specialist policy so I thought I'd see what difference it made if the 10 months counted as a whole year for NCD and on gocompare it seems to save me about a tenner, yet if I go the other way and say I've got two it jumps up a huge amount.
From what ive seen its 10% discount per year upto 70% max discount. But I wouldn't be surprised if some insurers use different systems.
Thats what I thought, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The first one seems to be worth more than ten percent and the fourth as I say made little difference.
From memory the first year is the big one - something like 40-50% with subsequent years roughly halving the amount of discount each year.
Ie. 0, 40, 60, 70, 75....
You can always ask the insurer, they will tell you.
