Car Transporter Protection?

Hello,

I am going to be using a car transporter service to move my seven in the next week. Problem is, I won't be travelling with him. What sort of protection do I have against him simply stealing my car? Do I have any?

It isn't SVA'd yet so no Plates or insurance. I have found a company with lots of positive feedback but still the paranoia is showing!

Cheers

Ed

Surely you've got the same protection as with any removals company, courier or postal service.

So use someone you trust and take out insurance?

and/or you might actually want to follow them?

hope it goes well.

You can buy build insurance from people like adrian flux... I guess small print would need checking for things like transportation...

What protection do you normally get? Can't follow them unfortunately, otherwise I could tow it myself!

Take some photos 'for the cars history book' of the car on the transporter (with the transporters reg no in view). Check that the tax disc matches the reg plates, make and model on the transporter. Accidentally take a photo or two of the driver.

That should (a) put your mind at rest and (b) give you some good amo to use if the worst happens.

It's suprising how real love for something/someone brings out the paranoia.

Good point re taking some photos "for the album", if you got the drivers face in one they'll likely deliver the stuff!! The police may show virtually no interest in investigating car crime but if you show them who dun it and give them their details they can't really not do anything about it!!!

You could take their photo quite innocently without risk of offending by saving your documenting the build on the web forum

I think his point is how do you prove they stole something that technically doesn't exist..

Plus I wouldn't bother with the police I'd just call them out again under a different name and nail them.
