big-vee-twin - 9/10/11 at 08:02 AM

Feel sorry for the guy, best bit is how people rushed to help him, good video to demonstrate how you should always carry a fire extinguisher on board

Yazza54 - 9/10/11 at 08:04 AM

Ditto what a twat

Oh look a man in distress..where's me iphone

snapper - 9/10/11 at 08:12 AM

I have now.
Always carry a fire extinguisher.
Someone respond to the last comment on YouTube please

Benzine - 9/10/11 at 08:42 AM

I carry a big powder extinguisher in my car, isn't it law in some countries (Belgium?)

MakeEverything - 9/10/11 at 08:53 AM

Ive left my comments;

"@bilbie121 - I agree mate. What a tosser. Glad to hear its all working out ok though."

I carry two extinguishers and yes it is law in France. Not sure if this extends to Germany and Belgium, but i should think it does. Either way, we have to drive through france to get there unless you catch a longer ferry!!

I have 3 cars, each one has a fire extinguisher on board, I cannot imagine that none of the passing cars did not have an extinguisher, just no one willing to help - modern society

balidey - 9/10/11 at 08:54 AM

In my opinion one of the worst things ever to be allowed on the internet is youtube commenting. yes really.

Dave Ashurst - 9/10/11 at 09:02 AM

For what its worth; if you do ever get a fire in your air filters I suggest, if it can be done safely, try to get the bonnet off as quickly as possible to release the heat before the fire spreads.

clairetoo - 9/10/11 at 09:22 AM

I once had an air-filter fire - there was a pop as it spit back through the carb , it cut out and wouldnt re-start .
Then I noticed white smoke coming out around the front wheels - I popped the bonnet to find my foam air filter had become a smoke bomb
Luckily it was one of those pop-on ITG ones , so I pulled it straight off - and it burst into flames in my hand !
I stamped it out on the ground , re-fitted it - and carried on as if nothing had happened

All this while the car behind me at the junction just blew his horn cuz I was blocking the road..................

gottabedone - 9/10/11 at 09:25 AM

It's pretty sad how some idiot thinks of Youtube before help

DixieTheKid - 9/10/11 at 10:06 AM

The bloke filming is a complete arse hole! And out of all those cars that drove past, not one of them had a fire extinguisher?............... What is the matter with people these days...... really!

l0rd - 9/10/11 at 10:09 AM

In Greece it is Mandatory to carry a fire ext, a first aid kit and High vis. triangle.

I also carry 2 Hi Vis. vests, one bulb of each type, bottle of de-ionised water, flashlight and car cover.

I think the guy has a bit of a LIFT fetish !

owelly - 9/10/11 at 04:05 PM

I once stopped at a vehicle fire. Blasted it with £50 worth of extinguisher. The bloke said "phew, that was close!", got in his car and drove off...

Rod Ends - 9/10/11 at 06:44 PM

Looks like there was an attempt to put the fire out using a powder extinguisher (white powder on the road and bonnet)
Probably too small.

When all's said and done, it's High Wycombe. The chilled owner probably has 4 other cars in his garage.
Had it been Doncaster, the entire fire service would've been on the case within 5 minutes.
The dude filming probably lit the match.

metro6r4 - 9/10/11 at 08:18 PM

why would anyone want to stick that on youtube if that was my car and someone was recording it burn id probably give them a good pating

doesnt 40 inches get in your eyes?

morcus - 10/10/11 at 03:31 AM

People not having extinguishers in their cars is one thing but surely you'd have to be crazy to not try and put out a fire right next to your house?

scootz - 10/10/11 at 07:21 AM

Sadly, that's nothing!

There are hundreds of vids of on the net of people obviously injured and dying and NO-ONE stopping to help.

And all the while some arse is doing nothing other than filming it on his mobile camera just so he can put it up on YouTube / Liveleak for other idiots to make inane and obscene comment about the poor blighters!
