It seems that every other day I find another reason to detest something about China!
This week I learned about the licensed Bear 'Milking' Farms! They keep the poor creatures in a crush cage where they stay until the day
they die, and make a hole in their stomach. The wound stays open and twice a day they insert a metal tube into the agonised animal to
'milk' it's bile! This despite the fact that the desired chemical component in the bile was synthesised many decades ago and is
readily available in far greater strengths and costs pennies in comparison to the 'real' thing!
And then a few days ago I was introduced to the story of YueYue... the two year old lass who was run over by TWO vehicles in a busy street and then
completely ignored by 18 passers-by! The guy who originally ran over her with his front wheels stopped, got out, saw her between the front and rear
wheels of his van and then promptly got back into his motor and drove off so that the rear wheels squashed her for good measure! ARSEHOLE!
I try my best to avoid buying Chinese goods, but I'll bloody well be doubling my efforts!

I've been a few times, all off the tourist trail.
These are bad but, in reality, it's even worse!

I have to say this, heartbreaking sh** happens ALL over the world, not just in China, for example in line with your story about bears, bear
torturing/performing is a favorite of the Turks.
Man is the most depraved & parasitic creature on this rock we call earth, we are slowly destroying it, and mother nature is slowing telling us to
stop, but we choose not to listen to her rumblings.
But fear not soon enough she will allow us (and assist us) to wipe ourselves out giving the planet the opportunity to run things just fine on its own
without us to fark it up, and after the initial shock of animals not having man to feed the domesticated element, all the animals will just get on
just fine. killing each other to survive without our interference.

There's something of a generalisation going on here guys, try to remember it's not all Chinese people who accept or encourage such things, and there are more than enough Chinese people who's manners, loyalty, beliefs, well meaning and education would put most of us to shame. Don't judge a whole country by a headline. However, you do have to really consider the upper-tiers of Chinese society, who allow what they chose to allow and hide what they don't.
I shall raise your story with news of a guy that CLAIMED he had been one that run over the girl (even though he hadn't) just for the fame of it.
