following on from my poor fuel economey on my 2.0 tdci mondeo
today was the day i was going to clean out the EGR and maf sensor,
but my engine is totaly different to the ones if found on the web, so now i dont know were these bits are ??
Please some one help!

egr back end of stainless pipe maf on the air box bottom of pic 2
thanks, is the maf there as well?
steve
The MAF is upstream from where the EGR pipe connects to the plenum.
You might want to read a little more on cleaning MAF sensors though, there's a pretty high chance you'll kill it. I'm not sure about
this specific one though, hence the reading
The yellow bit is the dipstick
To the left of it on the big round pipe that connects to the thing that looks like a hoover brush with four nozzles
has a connector held on with a spring clip and that is where the MAF sensor is. Don't mess with it as it is very fragile. EGR will be between the
exhaust and inlet manifold somewhere, it is the exhaust gas recirculation system and it gets clogged with carbon. Edit to add if it's either of
those it should be showing up on your dash as an engine fault and lighting the check engine (little yellow helicopter) light

Thanks guys.
I have had it all in bits, not much carbon build up, but very very oily, and a real PITA to clear it up
i have carb cleaned most of it that i can get to, but not taken the manifold off, as it seems to be a rather complex system, that goes over the back
of the engine as well
Things would be so much easier, if i had a workshop manuel for this model !!
And the maf was very oily, so left alone, till further advice
Steve
so to clarify steve, you can build an entire locost kit car from scratch but you stuggle to get off a couple of sensors and clean them?!??! i'm
not going out in your car again.......
