There are quite a lot of "Text your Reg" type apps/mobile phone services appearing now which tell you whether your car has finance
outstanding etc. etc. etc.
As a mobile developer, I'm quite intrigued/interested as to where this information is obtained, and how one goes about subscribing to it?
IIRC the text your reg etc dont check for finance, only written off, stolen etc. If you want a proper HPI check its more than the £5 these text services charge.
Fair enough, but even the written off/stolen bit - where do they access this data, and how much does subscription to it cost? There must be some
server that can be queried for the info..
Cheers

I'm not sure on the answer, but if you find out, I'd be intrigued to know!
Chris
DVLA database has details of written off/stolen flags from insurers as it administers VIC checks.
£2.50 a pop if you have a good reason for knowing - presumably running a company that resells the information for a 100% profit is a good enough
reason
