Anybody got a copy of rastervect (full version) or an equivalent program with various shape recognition options (scanning thick things gives me lots
of shadow to clean up! )
cheers

....or, my bro has just had a thought that newer versions of photoshop may be able to generate vector files from images.......if it can then I
don't need rastervect!
Anybody know for sure (photoshop is at home on laptop not on either pc in the workshop office!)
cheers

This type of software is available as free downloads.
I have downloaded the free version of rastervect, BUT it only has one edge detection algorithm enabled, I could do with the others to save LOTS of time cleaning up scans with very badly shadowed edges (but I'm wondering about just doing it in photoshop now, especially as it seems I may be able to save in vector format in photoshop anyway!)
technically the pen tool in photoshop is vector and yes it handles vector files.
why not try Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape
inkscape is free and is a true vector illustration program
rather than a photography program that sort of does vectors.
