My tin top (Alfa GT diesel) had a bit of a hiccup last night - it started to bog down at below 2000 rpm then the turbo would kick in with a rush
making it quite unpleasant to drive. No warning lights.
Is this sticky EGR valve symptoms?
Cheers
M
EGR valve maybe stuck open.
does your car have a DPF filter?

There is a few issues with the DPF clogging up and then getting build up on the EGR valve. Im pretty sure you will have one. many people get them
removed as you get much more power and you dont have issues in future.
Its close to my heart as my e60 bmw had the same issue where it was narrowed down to the DPF filter (£1200 new) or the EGR valve stuck open.
I replaced the DPF filter after I had issues with the back pressure this was tested and faulty.
The EGR you can clean yourself and may solve the issue.
I would find a instruction guide on net to clean the EGR valve and see if its stuck.
Then see if that makes it better if not see if they can test the back pressure on the DPF filter.
You can get them removed from people like the link below. i dont knwo them so do your research.

Thanks for that Jossey,
I would be surprised if the DPF is the issue - I do a daily round trip of over 40 miles so I don't fit into the low mileage short trip pattern.
Anyway the garage has it now so I'll see what they say.
Extended warranties - Love em
Good luck with the garage pal. hope it gets sorted.
PS DPF filter takes 20 mins of friving 50mph and over steady without stopping.
I did that in my car and it lasted 200,000 miles but some people have had issues with it going at 60,000 doing simular mileage.
let us know how you get on. :O)

Graham
ps hope you are well
Hi,
I've got a diesel Alfa GT and the EGR is a common issue on this engine. I found that the actuator on the EGR valve was the problem rather than
the valve itself. I posted a fix on the Alfa Forum some years ago, there's loads about it on there. I've had to do this 2 - 3 times in the
four years I've owned it.
