new car any ideas ?
samjc - 2/2/12 at 10:36 AM

Hi everyone, right the deal is im looking at getting a cheapish run around but have a few issue such as:
im 19years old
currently driving a 1.4 fiesta flame mk6 (which is up for sale)
clean licence but only 1years noclaims (2in september)

theyr the bad points ie insurance costs paying £1150 fully comp with 1year noclaims n 2years driving experience :-(
But now im after something more practical. was after a td4 freelander but waiting too see what else i could get.

needing to be turbo diesel around 2ltr mark as will be getting towbar n trailer for kitcar and holiday outings
5door preferibly with good fuel econimy but most of all cheap to insure.

How long before there's an aftermarket kit to do that on a Corsa....?

It is rather funky though - looked awesome when JC drove it through the tunnel on Top gear

Octavia 1.9TDI should fit the bill, just watch the all up towing weight and/or use a suitably braked trailer.

citroen xsara hdi. Cheaper to insure for me than a 1.25 fiesta when i was 18.

Im in a similar position to you, but do a fair sum of mileage.

I've got a Alfa 147 1.9 16v jtd. Tows well.... Very good economy, cheap insurance but not as comfortable as a Audi a4 would be.

I would have got a a4 but i wanted something a little bit more interesting....

Everyone has, the restriction is maximum combined weight.

Must have had a right lemon then, I run a Xsara 2Ltr HDI, (50 MPG), and have had it for six years, never had any electrical problems at all. My Mrs. runs a Ciroen C5, ( top of the range, all electric), she has had that for five years, and again no problems at all. Don't know why people give Citroens a bad name, no more af a problem than any other make of car, except that some are a bloody site worse. Cheers Ray
