Evening all
My Mondeo 05 tdci holds back then lurches forward and then dies the glow plug light then comes on and the engine management light? If i leave it for a minute it will start no probs.
I changed the glow plugs last year when i gave the car a good service so i don't think it could be these?
Any ideas before i go and buy a load of parts that i don't need.

Get the fault codes read. Then post the results.

I my have someone coming round tomorrow hopefully with an ecu reader but friend do let you down so i thought someone may have had the same trouble as me.

Have you put bio in it?

Does it make it worse if you try and give it some beans?

This happened to me and it was bio... Filling it with some good diesel cured it
Iirc the light was flashing... but don't think that would make that much of a difference. I persume it starts and runs fine if you just leave it?

I filled my car up at my local BP garage on Thursday drove to work 20 miles with no probs and was def not bio

Mine did exactly the same went to fords 3 times before they eventually replaced all 4 injectors

Might be worth changing the fuel filter ,have had a few diesels with problems lately , several have been cured with a new filter. also bear in mind how cold it's been the last few nights?? The Duratec engine can suffer surging problems caused be worn timing chain/tensioners but woulodn't have thought the symptoms would show up suddenly,As already suggested get the fault codes read

I had the car diagnosed to day the only fault code was po251
searched the net to find this could be a number of things so started with the things that don't cost.
Glow plugs, air filter and intake, removed ERG valve cleaned, checked all fuel pipes from tank to injectors no leaks.
And still the same problem.
Waiting for a fuel filter to arrive and start from there as this is the cheapest part to start with and will go from there

po251 sounds like the injection pump failure a norm. before you change fuel filter drain the old one of in to clear plastic bag to see how much swarf is in there. but you are in for least a pump pus poss 4 injectors and a drain down and flush though.
your stalling prob is from where the njectors are getting clogged with swarf.

Search on p0251 rather than po251

p0251 is a high pressure injection fuel meterinh valve fault the valve kis full open because the system is making enough pressure.

First step is schange the fuel fillter if that dosen't work do a leak off test.
