Early booking discount, or late penalty?

What do 'we' think of this...?

The fee has been £99 which considering the track and amenities, is about right but now if you book within ten days of the event date, it goes up £21!
I know they don't want folks waiting until the last minute but surely, there's a better way!?

They probably require a certain number of advance bookings to secure the event. Without these bookings they would probably have to cancel. I see it as a discount, not a penalty.

Sounds reasonable to me, I would imagine they are worried everytime that no one will turn up, then at the last minute they do. Its all about securing the venue in the knowlege you have a fair chance of making use of it!

The guys that run the event also run the circuit so its not a case of them booking the track and then trying to make it pay. They do have to pay for staff, insurance and medical cover but its the way they don't actually give you a discount for booking early as the fee is £99, the same as it was last year. If the fee is now £120, then I'll pay another tenner and go to Cadwell, which is a proper circuit and not a kart track.

As far as I know it's Howard Hunt and Tim Arnold that run the trackdays, not the circuit owner. Most trackday organisers seem to be offering "book early" prices now, seems OK to me.
