I'm interested...... any pictures of the chassis or car without the bodywork Mr Mills?

And what does it actually weigh?..... early MX5/Eunos cars were about 1000KG but got lardier as they went on

For those who don't know what I'm on about it's this

i was under the impression it was an mx5 chassis with an expensive body on top!

2,500 for a 'different' car (best selling sports car) that handles well and has c200hp lightly modified isn't expensive in the scheme of things.

i know but a 200 bhp mx5 must be just as good without paying for the fiberglass body!

As I understand it , underneath all that fibreglass is a near-complete Mx5 , so it should weigh a bit more than an unmolested Mx5 .
I was a little interested in the coupe version - till I found that the back dosnt open , so you lose the boot completely

And that open version looks like you lose the boot , hood , and screen.........?

The article I have on the original MEVX5 suggests at least 100kg lost due to swapping metal panels for fibreglass. I don't know how much more is lost for the superlight though.

It does seem to maintain a little more of the original for my liking, I'd have preferred the superlight to be a spaceframe chassis underneath and only maintain the drivetrain of the MX5.

Edit: I stand corrected, looks like the webpage does say it's a new chassis. It also says it's 400kg lighter than the original MX5?

As above - you need to read the website properly it's apparently a spaceframe chassis under that bodywork and the website says it weighs 400kgs less than an MX5 - which makes it potentially WAAAAY more interesting

I like the look of this too.

I've been thinking about getting an MX5 for a bit of cheap trackday and hillclimb fun. One of the concerns is that a lot of the older MX5's are starting to rot around the sills, but repair panels are quite expensive IMHO.

This probably takes away some of that concern and is a bit different looking too (though maybe a bit Elise-ish).

I don't know if it's just the styling or the photo's, but does the ground clearance look a little excessive to anyone?

Looking at the website, the coupe and convertible use pretty much all of the MX5, the superlight uses a spaceframe chassis so will need IVA etc.
Apparently you can use the spaceframe chassis in the coupe but you'll need to hack the screen surround off the MX5 to use.
I'm sure the rear window could be made into a hatch to get the boot back too.
