Spot the Red Herring
bonzoronnie - 23/4/12 at 12:59 PM

Just thought I would throw this one to the LocostBuilders massive

I know that some of you have a great eye for detail, cast your eyes to this picture, can you spot the Red Herring ?

Was browsing the Bay of E looking for some alloys better suited to my build & these turned up less than 5 miles from home

Won a set of 4, all for the grand sum of £52.99
Tyres are shot but no big deal as they were the wrong profile/size & would have fitted new rubber as a matter of course.

Will do me nicely as a starter set of rims.

Hint

Nothing to do with rim or tyre condition & definitely not my shoes

Tyre not lined up with the valve (yellow dot) ?

Are they sporting oz centres but are actually BSAs or the like? Can't recall that rim as part of the oz range

balancing weights in the middle instead of outer lip?

Flipping heck, that was quick

Well done Stott & Loggyboy, dead right, they are not OZ wheels

The wheels were missing a centre cap & I thought I may get away with fitting a set of OZ ones that I had kicking about.

Judging by the speed you both sussed it, perhaps it might not be such a good idea

Can't find a single replacement cap & have been quoted £40 for a set of 4.
Personally, I can't bring myself to shell out that amount of money to replace a missing cap

The rims are still in production & are from the Dezent range ( Dezent V )

Best price I could find on a set of rims only was £360, I guess I had a reasonable deal

Serious time now !

On a cortina i had in the 80's that was missing a cap, i modyfied a jam jar lid and managed to jam it in the whole so well you would never of known, and a spray of silver made it perfect

Carbon wrap the OZ ones. Maybe even add a sticker ontop of your choice. Car make?

If you want them back one day for a se of OZ you can then just peel it off.
