Just bought daughter a 2001 fabia. Having a lot of fun getting it back on the road. Fitted a new battery amongst other things and lost the radio code. Can anyone help. Local Skoda dealer says he charges £25 to look but probably can't help anyway!!!

Have you tried the usual places? In the handbook, written on the head unit, card tucked behind the sunvisor etc? Then phone your friendly Skoda dealer and quote the reg and/or chassis number and see if they can help. Failing that, try one of the many places that decode units or look to fit a new unit. Have you tried the old, go for a brew and come back in an hour trick?
If you switch everything off, then engage the ignition, then switch on the radio, it should "re-sync" itself with the code stored in the ECU (the first time the car is started - presumably at the factory - the radio stores the engine details and the ECU stores the radio details, so it "knows". Alternatively, the 4-digit code is on a sticker in the inside cover of the radio manual, along with instructions on how to enter it...

Ive had this problem as well, and the rover dealer told me the code was on the unit itself , so i bought some of those u shaped bend removal tools, and it was there, !

But on my last car Rover 75 it was not, but i got the code off an ebay seller, think it only cost £2 and worked fine!

If you can't find it anywhere then you could try this FORUM
I've had them come up with the code a couple of times after entering all the car and radio details. Other than that it a job for a radio code hacker.

Not exactly unknown to find somebody has already written the code on a sticker on the back of the radio

If it's a 2001 car you might be able to get the code from the orginal dealership as I'm told they're sometimes recorded there.

Eservice info confirm codes only available up to 1999 for grundig.
Dealer unhelpful.
Nothing on the cover of the radio or inside it.
Fitting aftermarket unit. Poor old skoda unit destined for the bin!
