Why would my caliper be leaking after 8 months of use?

Shortly after I bought my Mx5 last summer, I had one of the front calipers replaced because the dust covers were knackered and the piston had started to corrode.

I was having a check over the car today and I noticed the replacement caliper is leaking fluid from the piston, only 8 months after it was fitted to the car.

Are there any reasons why this might have happened so quickly? The dust boot looks perfectly fine, so I would be suprised if any dirt had managed to get in and damage the piston or seals. Its not impossible that some dirt could have fallen into the fluid inlet when it was fitted though.

The replacement caliper was purchased 'new', though I think it was most likely a reconditioned unit.

I'm having terrible luck with the calipers on this car. I've had to replace one of the rears also. Three calipers in 8 months!

Take it back to the original suppliers , it should still be under warranty.
