anyone any experience of them?
looking for a 2.7 987 shape, going to view a couple tomorrow but as always people on here seem to know a fair bit!!!
thanks
Is anyone stupid enough to admit to owning one of those !!!!

I had one, for a while, classed as bit of a 'girlie' car, so passed it onto girlfriend.
Also expensive to maintain.
I bet Scootz has had one...
I had one but left it for dead up to 120 lol

Hit the search button and type in boxster, they've been discussed many times before.
Phil
Two mates own one at work
ones a 55 yr old milf
the other is a poof (but is a good m8 !)
Had a quick search, it seems everyone says there crap but have never owned one, and there kit cars are faster

Looking to replace the z3 with one when the time comes. Though will be looking at a 3.2 Boxster S. fantastic to drive but those who don't know better will its a poor mans 911.

I have one (986 S). Love the car, hate the bills. Check for oil leaks around the engine/gearbox (rear main seal, expensive to fix), also be aware that suspension bushes are expensive to replace as you have to replace the whole wishbone, so make sure it rides OK. Brakes and tyres aren't cheap so make sure those are good.

Oh, the most important option is sports exhaust, worth trying to get a car with that on. I've got most of the other options but not that, and tbh it's the only one I really want...

Twin tips are the S, single pipe is the base model. I think the sports exhaust looks the same externally, it's just that you get a button inside the car to make it louder (it opens up a couple of small pipes which bypass the silencer).
I 'owned' one, but not in the sence you mean! Handed him his arse in my Nova.
I personally would love to own one, like the MX5, I wouldnt let the hairdesser image stop me. However I would prefer to save alot more for a Cayman!
theres just something a bit...ferrari about them...
Bloke I worked with about 9 years ago had one after the other - he reminded me of Serge from Beverley Hill Cop
ATB
Simon
Mate had one and in 6 months it had a new alternator and clutch assembly
Believe they also have a known gearbox issue
When it was going he liked it...
Yes... been there... done that!
Fabulous car! Definitely in my top 3 cars owned... in fact, it might just be the best (run very close by the Exige).

You dont need to have driven one to know the image the car has. And just because its a great car, doesnt mean its not a hairdressers car, a cars image has nothing to do with how it drives or how good it is!

I have looked at the s, but cannot justify the extra for insurance and fuel for not much more performance

The S is quite a bit quicker than the standard 2.7, don't just look at 0-60 times (though 6.3 to 5.5 is an impressive reduction at this level) but also look at 0-100mph and standing 1/4; the S is a quick machine.
My (standard) Fiat Coupe would fairly easily out drag a standard 2.7 but the S would edge ahead.
