Just had a bit of a drive!

Got back this morning at 3.30am from Montenegro

Left Tavistock Devon at Midnight Friday in the rain with debris and standing water on the roads and drove to Gatwick after picking up a friend on the way, then flew out to Dubrovnik in Croatia leaving at 7am and arriving at 10.30am Croation time (they are an hour ahead) and 31deg. At the airport we were picked up in an Audi A6 and driven to Tivat in Montenegro where we picked up a poorly friend and a Mk4 Golf tdi. In fact a car I had delivered a few months ago when I drove a similar route but had to drive through the big freeze that hit Europe last winter when it was -15 deg most of the way! That time it took me four days to get to Tivat.

We drove out of Tivat and took a dirt road not on any map and known only to locals and now myself, into the mountains, through customs and back into Croatia. We then drove the length of Croatia through 10km tunnels and through passes in the mountains and along the awesome motorway that they now have. Hardly any cars and fantastic surface. The first 10% of Croatia took us half the time we were in the country as it is through mountains on small roads until you eventually get to the A1 highway. Croatia is the single most beautiful Country I think I have ever seen. In and out of Bosnia, back into Croatia and then into Slovenia, Austria, Germany Holland and France before getting onto a ferry in Calais, back to Gatwick to pick up my Mk2 Golf GTi and finally back to Tavistock.

I haven't worked out the actual mileage yet but in excess of 3500km in two days three and a half hours (not inc. flight km's), over 3000km in a day and a half. My good friend Ash and I shared the driving and caught the odd half hour of sleep when we could. The Gof never missed a beat and the only time it was turned off for more than 15mins was the hour on the ferry!

I think a cuppa is called for.

Sounds like a proper boys couple of days.
