Anyone sold on PH Auctions?
JC - 24/7/25 at 04:30 AM

Hi all,

I had a buyer come to view my Locost, and placed a deposit……then mysteriously has been unable to find the funds to complete the sale (why???).

I’ve had a few other nibbles of interest - including one guy who wanted to break the car and use the engine in his midget!

However no one else has come forward and I need to shift the car as part of my divorce settlement

I don’t really want to use eBay - it has become more hassle than it’s worth recently.

Has anyone used the PistonHeads auctions? I’m not sure if my car qualifies or not, but thought I’d ask about the experience anyone may have had on here first?

Thanks

JC

Sorry your having to sell under the circumstances you are in.
I recently had a look at it but it seemed like the buyer has to pay the fees which (in my opinion) were quite high especially if your selling something of not a very high value. I ended up selling via Autotrader one set fee, I went for the option of till it sells. A little hint if you decide to go this route and get offered the dealer auction take it at the end you don't have to take their offers and it reverts to the option you choose but they knock a small percentage off the fees.

Ebay for cars isn't too bad, if you used the classified ad option it works very differently to the auctions. Fixed fee, full control over the ad, but you're still reaching the ebay user audience. The £20 fee is slightly higher than other places (if I remember correctly) but it's well worth it.
