I quite liked the end, fitted with the whole surreal situation, and was an amusing twist on the answer to the classic "who is number one?"
question.
It was made even harder to understand as they broadcast it out of order iirc.
It's just been re-made in the US

Always enjoyed these until that rather stupid overgrown bubble began bouncing around at the end of most episodes - usually fairly plausible up to that
point, used to ruin it for me.....!

I guess everyone has their opion. It's where i got the motivation to build a Locost/ Haynes so theres only one choice for body colour.
Personally I'd say it has to count amongst the finest, most thought provoking bit of telly ever made and still holds a valid message today. Yes
the ending is strange and surreal but thats what comes of the studio changing the number of episodes mid way and then pulling the budget whilst
it's still being made. That doesnt detract from the quality of the overall writing and the ethos IMHO.
I didnt think the US remake cut the mustard, I gave it a chance and struggled through watching it and was left with the overiding feeling it was more
like a remake of the League of Gentlemen minus the humour than a valid remake of the Prisoner.

I take it the US remake with the one with Sir Ian Mckellan?
Quite enjoyed it, although I don't really have any knowledge of the original to compare
