What car to butcher / convert
Guys I am soon to be in a position to look around for another project and i just simply cant be faffed with the IVA test so i am after ideas or
suggestions as to what direction to head for.
Do i
Buy a road registered but tired kit and tart it up (maybe go BEC with it)
Go for a production car and convert it to BEC, suggestions for a small lightweight car to convert are most welcome, I like the idea of a bit of a
street sleeper too  
Im open to all ideas really so fire them up!

NIce idea keep em comming,
Only concern with an MG is that it is likely to need a LOT of work in order to get it up to scratch before you even think about BEC'ing it.
Dont they just Rust away before your eyes?

i think you should go for a classic with a modering engine, either a zetec/duratec or BEC it.
Like you say, a nice sleeper car

Sold now, but this was my last project, and yes MG's will be well rotted out.
Like the idea of that R1 Midget, but maybe somethng with a bit more torque ... Hayabusa??

Christ! I remember my mate's first car being an A30 (and it was old then). Going round corners was a bit of a lottery!

Midget will be rusted to hell, but only needs fixing the once and then properly looking after. Remember it'll only likely be used in better
weather, so should be a while before it start to go again.
You could always minimise the chance of rust (and keep weight down) by going for GRP replacement panels, or even the Tifosi Rana frogeye conversion

My current car is a BEC Fiat 126 , not yet built but starting soon.
Built along the Italian Autoslalom style cars like these

I've also often thought about BECing a Ginetta G15. The only issue is the rear engined layout (Hillman Imp drivetrain IRC).
Maybe a sierra diff could be fited upside down with the drive end pointing to the rear and then coupled up to a sprocket adapter?
