Last time diesel hit £1.40 I was taxi-ing. One day I got collared by some sales woman in the Shell who asked me how much I'd put in, I told her just over £80.. She yelped when I told her it would last until friday, maybe mid saturday (this was a Tuesday)

Well I reckon they could knock 30p off the fuel tax and regain that in income tax when people can afford to go to work, but that's too long-sighted

I like the way that the labour party state that a cut in VAT would reduce the price of a litre by 3p, when they reduced VAT temporarily they added an equivalent amount onto the price of a Litre so as not to reduce fuel price, they then cleverly forgot to remove it when the VAT was put back up after there temporary cut.

I reckoned we'd still be here and probably still have cars, we'd just drive them less or not at all, but people would still want to talk about them on forums. People discuss other things on forums that they probably don't actually own or opperate like plane and train people.

Wasn't there a documentary a while back which said that with our high fuel prices we're basically paying to erect wind turbines? They only last 20 years, do not provide reliable power, and need to be backed up by a gas power station for when the wind isn't blowing. Not where I'd put my money, personally.

one of the comments on the bottom of the blog:

Degsie March 6, 2011

"I hope it goes up to £3.00 a litre so that the poor are forced off the road - then I can enjoy my motoring more. The roads are all clogged up with cheap cars full of awful people."

Made me smile
