CAD software
Wanted to play around with a free CAD drawing package does not need to be too complex just needs to be well supported. Has any body any knowledge or
experience of any of these:

Nope but have found DraftSight from Dassault Systems, the same people as Solidworks. It is as good as a very basic autocad. Not all the functionality
but near enough. www.draftsight.com

I'd go as far as proposing it as the official 2D CAD software of LCB.
There is really no reason for everyone to not have a copy.
(OK, I use AutoCAD because I have it, but DS has not given me any compatibility issues)

Autodesk 123D will be good once they've got it working properly (waaaaay better than Sketchup for engineering stuff) and if they keep it
free......... At the moment it's too clunky to use imho but interestingly the current beta versions seem to work better on lower spec computers
rather than proper CAD spec workstations. Worth a look anyway if you want a legal free 3D CAD program - although tbh you may as well download a
<cough cough> 'evaluation' copy of Solidworks like everyone else

Freebie 3D, limited, but not so limited as to be unusable...
