Just read that and I see no proof given. To proove something using statistics you need credable sources. "...According to the Daily Mail, before the camera was put up there hadn't been a single accident there for five years..." If thier other information comes from similar sources it's just an opinion.

Are you saying that THIS doesn't prove something? Cheer Ray

You have to question any statement that starts "According to the Daily Mail..."

channel 4 just showed some statistics. although tbh the sample groups seem very small, for example no injuries at X location in 2003 7 injuries at same location 2009. have to think that the patterns of randomness and how incidents tend to clump together might explain at least some of these numbers. thats not to say i agree with speed cameras, as tbh if u want to slow people down, average speed checks are a much more effective answer, instead of speeding, slow down for camera for 30secs and then speed off... also channel 4 showed some stats where no accident black spot existed, and still doesnt, the cameras essentially a tax.

I really don't see the problem... if you can't spot a 10ft tall camera at the side of the road, then you really have no complaint for getting caught speeding past it!

Good grief, they even paint the bloody things in luminescent paints in some places, and pre-empt them with warning signs!

And then there's the camera site-plotting on Govt websites!

All true but how does that stop accidents? There's one near the hospital in Chester, I do 40 past it then floor it, as does most other people. Were the accidents attributed to speed on that one corner?

I'd argue that you have to ignore them.

It's just angry noise.

I have recently been on a speed awareness course instead of collecting more points and i was quite angry at the false info and stats they fed my group.

at lumch i challenged then in the most polite way i could about one of their false comments. they just would not back down.

For your info they stated that abs does not slow down a car quicker than one without.

dont get me started, it does!!!

Just think, any road condition in any car with an average joe driving behind you. what sort of brakes would you rather they had?!?

Millions of £££ in development, band from many motorsports. shall i carry on!?!

At one point they even said that accidents have been reduced in some areas since cameras and alrhoigh no evidence can be directly linked to camers they would like to think that although the average speed is about the same befote cameras as after they are still responsible for the reduction of accidents. Grrrr

You can't say that ABS does or doesn't reduces stopping distances because it performs differently depending on road conditions, for example on snow or mud ABS is useless.

I agree it's a help in more circumstances than it's a hinderance.
