Have a look here http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/view-classic-cars-for-sale.php/searchtype/browse/browseby/make/browsevalue/Mini at the 1962mini,
its advertised as a reshelled with a mk3/4 rustfree shell, i once had a mini clubman that was reshelled and it had it written on the v5c that it had
been done with a tax free reg, maybe the laws have changed now.

I was offered an early mini logbook, with some rust to represent the shell. Apparently they fetch about £200, but of course you wouldn't dream
of doing such a thing.
I think they are in demand to "reshell" so people can do some events only open to historic vehicles. I know of at least one, and probably
more, that are early 70's cars that have been built using a later shell. Used for historic rallies and so on.

6 months tax on a mini is £71.50, i think its worth a bit more than that!

Exactly! What if it is used to create a new ID for a stolen pride and joy ?
How would you feel if you lost a motor and later found it on show with a 'new' ID ?

maybe you two are right, i`ve just posted it to dvla as being scrapped, i woulden`t want to encourage anyone to commit a serious criminal offence.
