Here we go, dmf...
Karma must absolutely despise me...
Before I've managed to fork out £70+ of money we haven't got on leaving the house through the front door I wake up today to be told
"the starter motor is grinding and won't start properly"
I'm 90% certain it's the dreaded dmf that comes with the mondeos...
Now I know it's going to be expensive (it's going to be "do we keep the car" expensive) so has anyone near me had it done and
how much did it cost them?
Thanks for saving me some money (not that I have any!)

im assuming its an 03-onwards model . most garages will buy a luk kit including a new concentric slave for around £250+vat and labour around the same
level .
i normally charge just over £500 for this job .solid conversion kits are the same price

That would be b***dy great actually (that's not "do we keep the car" expensive!)
The quotes I've seen around are £800-1000

You might get away (at least for a while) with taking the starter off and cleaning it or fitting a new starter but it warning of impending DMF
failure so you have got to do some hard thinking, mileage on the car, annual mileage, condition of body and mechanical bits such as suspension
and brake pipes. When diesel Mondeos reach the age and mileage where DMF failures occur it is not unusual to find other failures follow --- fuel
injectors particularly also road springs and wishbones and brake pipes.
My personal instinct would be if you can get it running to dump it via an auction and find something else. Loads of bargains about in medium sized
cars twice in the last year I have good bought cars ate auction with 42,000 to 47,000 miles on the clock for less than £850

05 focus with ford parts fitted by ford specialist (not main dealer) came in with clutch change at 1k. Thought might as well change the clutch if i
was getting everything else done.
