EU (Motorcycle) 'Anti-tampering' legislation'

Done a search and I do not think it is mentioned before, sorry if it is.

On another forum, I came across this e-petition to reject it. I t looks like protectionism from manufacturers and a nanny state. Possibly what starts on bike can later continue with cars, it may have been tired before but not sure.

Any way here is a link to the reject e petition.
Reject EU (Motorcycle) 'Anti-tampering' legislation

Looks like there was an old one that run out in November 2011 but did not reach the required number I believe.

Why do I have to make the tools to finish the job? More time then money.

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

These things get resurrected every now and then, they are never going to happen and some of the things she seems to worry about in the petition wording are just ridiculous. "They also propose to ban filtering through traffic, which would be dangerous for air-cooled machines that could blow up in traffic" I ride a bike and sometime help at a bike shop, we are delivering a Fireblade on Tuesday to a chap in Southampton (holiday as well ) Bikes bring too much revenue to the Chancellor for him to ban them and we have the MSVA for any bikes which are altered (customised) and there are whole industries built up around them. Only France is considering the 7 year old bike rule, they still insist bikes are limited to 100bhp there apparently yet a 14 year old can ride a stinky moped without a license in a lot of places. The petition instigator is a bit inflammatory and ill informed but her heart is in the right place bless her. Join MAG to make a difference if you are worried about losing the right to fit a rack to your bike (or a loud pipe)

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Signed. There were huge groups of bikers, (me included), that slowed trafic on major roads earlier this year, all to do with this ,(proposed), legistration. I have been informed, (member of the press, so could be bo***ks), that the Minister for Transport is definately against this being brought into force, so hopefully it wont happen. Cheers Ray

'Self build' cars will be out long before motorcycles. TBH i wouldn't be too unhappy if thousands of motorcycles were forced off the road, would make engines much cheaper for us!
