Just got robbed of 30 squid for the green card

Is this normal ......
They say you don't need it for the EU but CH aint EU

As well as that we have the plod in these country's that in the past

seem to want to see them to prove you are covered.

Its one of the things that if you have it no one wants it
but if you don't have it your going to get hassle

Within the countries where frontier inspection is no longer required, the Green Card is still the insurance document most readily recognised and understood by national police forces. As you may need to produce evidence of insurance other than at a border, for example after an accident, you may consider it advisable to carry a Green Card to avoid any inconvenience.

Last time in Italy we had this problem

The Green Card is not required for Switzerland, however ... with some insurance companies, until you ask for a Green Card from your insurer, you only get the minimum 3rd party insurance required by law while abroad and your comprehensive cover is not in force; with these companies, issuing the GC also triggers extending your full insurance cover.
