sorn problem

i got a car on the 30/10/11 it was an add in tesco the car needed a new head i phoned and he came round with it on a trailer and i took it .he told me it was sorned but when i sent away the papers i got a letter asking who i got the car from so i filled it in my phone number ect (i has to tippex over the new keepers bit as it had another persons name and adress on it but before i did i took a pic of it with my phone ,i dont know why i just did ,so i enclosed a print out of it with the form they sent me) i still have no papers fro the car ,i cant sorn a car that is not in my name yet can i ?

If I were you I'd send off the request anyway. If it confuses their system it's not your fault, and if it doesn't go through it proves that you attempted to sorn it when you got the car, and so they can't try to get you for road tax/insurance evasion

Agree, as long as you have tried to sorn it they can have no complaint.

Also send them a letter complaining you have no papers for the car.

Keep do it reguarly.

Send away the V890 - registered POST - so when they come back and complaine to you you have proof of requesting sorn - this is the only way to avoid there daft way of provig you applied for SORN.

They may charge you £25 for a new log book if you do not have the new keepers slip from the log book

ive tipex'd v5s before and not had any come back, but techincally im sure you arent meant to. The previous recorded keeper is in for a fine i reckon. You should be ok, just as above declare sorn now via post. You wont be able to do it online without the docs or renewal form.
