Fuel senders, which is better ?
Ok fellas looking at fuel senders and i have a float type one already, but if i remember rightly when you slosh the fuel around in the tank it moves
with the flow.
So if i got a tube type one would it read better on the guage ?.
ps but dont want to spend money if i dont have too, so all answers welcome

Scootz not got one to sell?
I wouldn't think it would make that much difference in the real world. My old 106 could gain half a tank if I pushed it through a left hander,
and my mondeo can lose the entire "red" area while up the drive but for 90% of the time it reads fine

I'd have thought if you had that much slosh you'd be worrying about pickup too. Shame you don't want a pricey one, you could do a
bunch of capacitive ones around the whole area of the tank and get a litre-per-litre readout like a fighter. I always wanted that. Pointless, but cool
to see the pounds flying out the window.

Tank I've got has 2 baffles in it and I'm thinking of welding a sump baffle to it to stop the starvation bit.

I guess the main question is "when you're driving in a manner likely to cause your gauge to read incorrectly, are you going to be looking
at the gauge?"

Still building the car. But I like my track days and that's where the heavy cornering comes in. But I also like to stay out on track as much as
I can and would like a good Idea when to come in rather than stop on track lol

Fair points I guess, our race cars have almost no instrumetation in the dash because the driver cant concentrate on it. Guess on a long straight
you'll have a reasonable idea but i still dont see you caring mid-bend One in a tube with small holes will really reduce the error.

if the tank's baffled that should stop the fuel sloshing about too much... i would think both the float and dip tube types will be affected in
the same way though? the dip tube will only show the level of the fuel directly around it.
dip tube might be easier to install though... finding a way for a float to move properly over the full range, and show the right level on the gauge,
and without catching the baffle makes my head hurt, but then i'm not that clever!
i think RS have fluid level switches that are suitable for fuel. its just aan optical sensor i think. 3 of those, 3 LEDs, sounds good to me!
i don't fancy drilling holes in my tank for it though, but i HAVE already got a cut out for a level sender can perhaps make some sort of tube
that slips into the tank with the sensors fitted hmm, you're a genius Joe! thanks for giving me that idea! taken years to work that one out...

edit, now i've tried finding them again, i'm sure the sensors weren't £40 each before...
