Bearing to support a one-sided pinion shaft.
Hi all,
I'm looking for a bearing that can support a pinion shaft similar to those on the right-hand-side (as you look at it) of the photo below:
I need this to work in what is, for want of a better term, single sheer. In other words I need full access to the gear from one side.
I can't use a pillow-block as they are able to swivel. I need something locked in place in terms of angle but able to freely rotate. Any
ideas?

Sounds as though a wheel bearing might do the job? This is essentially two bearings that share an outer cage, and the inner cages must be compressed
together.

Have look at the 106/Saxo front upright. Drive shaft passes through and the hub is in the single shear you need. Massive ball bearings, flat as
buggerry...

Ah - that looks like it'll work - I can mount it to a water-jet cut plate or similar.
All this for a friggin' reverse that I will probably only use once to drive over a wooden baton!
