Jaguar 2.0TD

Colleague has just bought an 2004 Jaguar 2.0td

Few weeks after buying it, he got a cel which turned out being the EGR system, garage fitted a new egr module and cleared the cel.

Its since come on again, the code isnt read yet but the assumption is , its the egr error code again.

Anyone got any experience of this engine and its foibles ? If it is the egr whats likely to be the cause of it ?

Cheers

Ivan

I'm persuming it's the tdci as of Mondeo (in)fame.

In fact if it's the x-type it's pretty much the Mondeo in a nicer looking shell

Yes - x type....

Point taken re assuming the cel is related to the egr, but Im not about to take it to bits - What I should of asked was......

Is there anyone aware of common egr related problems with this engine, after egr module replacement ?

Didnt realise it was a Mondeo engine - packaging is nicer than Mondeo, does nearly 50mpg and cost £4k

I work in a Jag specialists, it might be it requires the engine management system to be reflashed if it is still EGR related, what happens is the management system recalibrates itself to a choked EGR (if you look inside one it's allmost solid) so when the new one is fitted, the values are all out. Reflashed one once for an unrelated issue and it wouldn't run afterwards because the EGR was so blocked!

I take it it's the vacuum operated system, could be vacuum solenoid for EGR but enlikely, they usually smoke like mad!

Need to know the fault code really then can possibly help further.

Regards Mark

Also check large rubber pipe from EGR to intercooler, they split on a bend at the back where you can't see it.
Usualy causes a pulsing feel on acceleration.
