MX5 tickover
Having problems with a high tickover during warm up on my wifes MX5. It revs at 1700 rpm even when up to temp. It finaly goes back down after about 3
miles. I tried cleaning the plenum chamber with carb cleaner but made no difference. It may be a temp sensor faulty but cannot find it on engine. Any
help would be appreciated.

there's a way of reading the fault code via the ODB2 connector, depending on year, have a look on miata.net

The temp sensor is at the back of the engine below the coil pack. If its a UK car it'll be a green clip, if it's an import, it'll be
grey. There are actually 2 sensors in that location. One for the ecu on the top (screws in vertically) and one for the gauges below it (screws in
horizontally).
You'll need to remove the coil pack 1st with the 2x 12mm bolts holding it to the cam cover, plus another 12mm underneath into the head.

I had the same problem with the Kia and it was the throttle position sensor potentiometer shot.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
