Oooooohh...that was awsome....takes me back to my early teenage years being sat in the Margam stage at 2 in the morning watching my heroes.......although I think that I preferred the Skodas' 'cos they stank of Castrol R......

I now want an RS200 (to my mind the most beautiful car ever made) that sounds like a 6R4.......

I really enjoyed watching it! I was too young to remember group B in action as I was not born till 77. Ive read about it, and seen plenty of video clips, but I didn't realise the massive following it had! What I would give to be able to have seen them rallying before the ban.

I too was born in 77 but went to watch them. I remember blasting around the whole of Wales, I think, watching the stages day and night for 3 days! I must have been about 10 years old and probably missed a day at school for it. But fab memories....

Now I'm grumpy. Missed that one. Is it repeated at all?

Group B has got to have been the best era of rallying. Ever.

I was lucky enough to have worked on the AR Motorsport Team from 1985 to 1987. My job was selling the clubman cars and looking after the private entrants amongst lots of other stuff. I even had a 6R4 demo car on the road.

Happy days.

My dad was both a petrol-head/ mechanic and a avid photographer. Some ace pictures of 6R4's spashing through fords etc...

I will ask him if he can get them out and I'll scan them!!!

It was on BBC4 so it will likely be repeated many times (As much as I enjoy the chanel, I have sat down to watch programs and realised I've seen them before many times).

Was a great program, though there probably should have been more warning about the nature of some of the footage.

It might also be on iplayer? And for those who partake in a little 'naughty' downloading, it would appear that someone has made it available. The full title is 'BBC Madness On Wheels, Rallyings Craziest Years'.

It is indeed on BBC Iplayer, well worth a watch, I was very surprised to see a modern documentary show people getting killed at the side of the road, but excellent viewing all the same.

Ari Vatanen was awesome in his description of how it felt to drive them...

Lancia Type 037 Rally has the same/similar Volumex engine that's fitted to my Formula27 - not a lot of people know that!
