I read it as selling a 73 MGB with registration, he is also throwing in another reg document for a 69 car.
It does not say clone me.

He is not doing anything illegal. He is just providing the means for a buyer to do so!
Could be done for conspiracy I suppose.

well, if thats the biggest worry in your world, go for it.
i've got bigger problems and worries of my own, than whether or not the stuff people i don't know on ebay are selling stuff to people
i've never met, is being sold legally tbh

It may be illegal but what harm is it going to do?apart from depriving the government of a few quid .The vin plate is just riveted on on an MGB and if
it was swapped over there is absolutely no way of any one telling it is not the original vehicle , at least he is being honest and not just swapping
it before hand to make selling easier.

Absolutely no way of telling???
There are many ways.
Firstly unless the other vehicle was exactly the same colour it will always be possible to prove it was never the original registered vehicle cololur.
Secondly hundreds of minor components will be date stamped with their date of manufacture.
Thirdly there was a model change in 1972 with many detail changes.

Yes there were a few changes between the mk 1 and 2 models but many older cars have had new grills, steering wheel interior trim etc fitted as up
grades, I dont remember seeing any plastic mouldings with date stamps or anything else for that matter on the one I owned for many years.

I think that the following extract makes it totaly legal, it's just what the buyer does, or does not that could be illegal. IMHO Ray
Also included in the sale is a current V5 and vin plates for a 1969 tax exempt BGT
theses are of course only for historical interest and should not be used to re identify a different BGT as Tax exempt
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

How gutted would you feel? Ringing is ringing and it's against ebay rules to sell a V5 without a car.

Now if it was a Dutton logbook
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I agree, He's not selling the '73 as being a '69 tax exempt.
Since pretty much all parts are available to build an MBG then you could build the car from just the log book and plates as the requirement is
original parts or direct like for like new replacement. So you could start with a heritage bodyshell, reconned engine and box etc, all perfectly
legit. It would be the recreation of the original car.
