Good evening,

I'm the proud new owner of a Fisher Fury and looking to upgrade the shocks as I've heard good deals are available at Stoneleigh this weekend!

This is my first foray into kitcar ownership and while excited, my mechanical knowledge is very limited but I'm enjoying the learning curve. The car is on 13" wheels and uses a car engine.

I am trying to find the required suspension shock lengths for the Fisher Fury, I have seen 12" Front and 13" Rear open length suggested. Is this correct?
I broke out the tape measure and found the front shock lengths at 11.5" Front and 11" Rear, but presumably the suspension is compressed a bit under the weight of the car.

Also, am I right in thinking the springs are 2.25"?

Finally if there is any input regarding spring weights, i.e. I have seen 225lbs Front and 180lbs Rear suggested, I'm all ears!

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Steve at Fury Sports Cars told me they are 12" front 13" rear, and I too will be looking to see if ProTech have got any show deals on.

I can't help you with springs though ( my engines a bit different) and it's not finished, I have been trying to talk to Steve to see what he suggests, but I just can't get hold of him. Spring diameter depends on the shocks. Whether 1.9" or 2.25" was another question I was going to ask Steve.

If this can help on my Fury I have 12" 1/2 Spax both front and rear. This lenght in not available from all the producers

Mine are 2 1/4" protect single adjustables. Got them direct from protect and they adjusted the valves for light car (FOC). They're also available from pro-comp.

I'm running 12" open at the front but with a 1" extension top mount so total length 13". I had 12" before and that gave me no droop on the front suspension when set to ride height.
Tears are 11" open. Again previously had 12" but that gave very little bump before hitting the stops.
I run 125mm height at the front and 145mm at the rear.

It's worth noting that there's been a bit of variation in pick-up points over the years so different lengths have suited different cars.

Personally I'd put it on a jack without springs/shocks but with wheels and use the jack to get the height to what you want. Then measure between the shock mountings.
Choose shock lengths to suit. Usually you'd want either 50/50 or 33/66 droop/bump. I prefer the second. Don't forget to slow an inch of lost travel for the bump stops.
