Dead 1.4 Sigma/Zetec SE Engine - Upgrades?

The 1.4 Zetec SE motor in my Ginetta G20 has gone pop (bottom end).

I'd like to replace it with another Zetec SE but if possible eke out a little more power - I have a set of Jenvey Direct To Head ITB's, Newman FORS/274/325 cams and a DTA S40 ECU from the now defunct engine that I'd like to reuse.

I have a budget of up to £1000 (preferably less!) to get a new engine in and preferably with more power - I'd like somewhere north of 150bhp.

I am thinking of buying a secondhand 1.6 Zetec SE to rebuild with the above parts and have the head fettled. Anything else I should consider?

Obvious upgrade would be the 1.6, pretty much a drop in replacement, Jenveys will be ok, probably need to check the cams will work with Newman. Probably worth adding arp rod bolts and HD valve springs from shawspeed whilst you are at it, will the Rev to 8500rpm then. Final bit is a rolling road remap.

The 1.7 vct from the puma is dimensionally the same but not as easy a fit, cams will probably not work, vct can be controlled in an off/on/off manner by the s40 I think but the crank spigot bearing cavity in the end of the crank will need boring out to 22mm irirc and the sump is different if using the OEM one. Jenveys should work though.

Hi
I would look at the 1.7 Puma with VVT i believe Jenko on here with the Sylva J15 has the VVT up and running.
I have the 1.6 SE the Emerald map is for 182 hp which i have been told by Emerald is good until IVA and a proper session with them i have Jenveys on but i believe the map was with Jenveys, headwork and cams.
Fella who used to race a J15 in the 750MC Sports Specials use to have a 1.6 SE with 192 hp in a Riot prior to the J15 think there is a youtube vid of it on the rolling road being set up ?
I use to own a 1.7Puma and it use to pull like a train from 40-70 mph (Fords best kept secret that car) the Racing Puma spec has 155hp as standard but they are like gold dust.

Hope this helps
