stressy - 15/7/03 at 01:23 PM

A simple question this one.
What are peoples completed car weights, it would be interesting to compare for what engine is fitted etc......
As a starter i have a 2l pinto and sva weight fully fuelled (deducting my own weight) 630Kg

cheers

Surrey Dave - 15/7/03 at 02:44 PM

Mine is a Locost 1800 CVH, Escort Axle, 5 speed, steel floor.

655kgs (inc 6 gals of petrol)

I must have used heavy welding wire!

See the car at: www.groovy42.freeserve.co.uk

I have a MK indy blade (98 w engine)which weighs in at a rather heavy 470 kg when Sva'd, more detail: no reverse, Cosworth LSD with 3.62 ratio diff (possibly right ratio) discs all round

Cheers

Jim

Come on everybody this could be a good idea, ( Just read it off your MAC certificate!!!???) you can quote more than the engine and weight ,axle/diff,gearbox, BEC with or without reverse box.

Are there any other resources for engine weights(pinto, cvh, xflow, vauxhall,'k' series, rover v8,ford v6,ford cosworth.massey ferguson tractor!!!)

MK indy Vauxhall 2l xe engine, 6 gallons petrol and myself- 580kgs.
Since SVA i've added screen (perspex) and a few other bits n bobs so it could be couple of kgs heavier

how is it that the BECs seem to weigh around 200kgs less when the engine surely isnt THAT much lighter than a car engine?

zetec - 8/10/03 at 10:09 PM

I would have thought engine and gearbox difference would have been around 80-90 kg. Suspect bke eng cars built with a very close eye on weight.

Some interesting stuff here

interesting to see the weights of various tyres and wheels - the tyres seem to have the same kind of range as the wheels listed. Admittedly the wheels are all at the lightweight end of the spectrum but I'm kinda surprised the tyres are that heavy.
