Shocks for Offroad Buggy Needed
Andy North - 11/5/07 at 12:04 PM

Looking for a supplier of shocks to fit my Piranha buggy. Anyone know of a supplier?

Shocks, coilovers, gas filled, heavy duty, 12mm coils, 390mm eye to eye.

Shocks, coilover, gas filled, heavy duty, 12mm coils, 750mm eye to eye

Thanks - Andy

How much have you got to spend?

Nitron will make shocks to your spec, but they are quite pricey.

Most of the normal shocks people use (Gaz, Protech etc.) are oil filled twintube dampers which can only be run upright for several reasons. The gas filled ones are monotube and can be used in any orientation.

Fox or Skyjacker.

Thanks for the replies. The specs were from the Aussie web site. The shocks do mount in an upright position so I guess normal shocks would do.

As for cost, cheaper the better really

If you want to 'Locost' it, then you could probably modify a suitable McPherson strut for the the 750mm shock. You can buy threaded sleeves and matching spring platforms to weld onto struts to enable use of standard coil-over springs.

I presently have McPherson struts for the the the back and they work well enough. The main object at the moment is to replace the smaller front ones as the current bike ones are too small and on the soft side.

Fox shocks are what you need. (as Rich Quinn said)

We use them on grasstrack buggies in the uk.

We get them from:
