As nobody wants to buy my Striker I will try and press on with it, hence next daft question (Probably)
I have just hooked up my Type 9 to my 1600 crossflow but which starter motor should I be using? I have one that came with my Escort 4 speed box but I
quickly tried it with the Type 9 and on the face of it, it will not fit.
Any advice would be appreciated..
Thanks
Simon
cvh starter should be the same
I used the Escort crossflow starter with my type 9 so it should fit, but you'll have to open up the hole in the bellhousing coverplate.

Thanks again for your help guys, I was hoping the Escort one would fit cause it's a new one. I did notice when I put the engine and gearbox
together that the plate between was a different sahpe in the starter motor area, so I will work on reshaping this area tomorrow.
Thanks again
Simon
Count the number of teeth on the flywheel as x flows used an inertia starter and a pre engaged .IIRC the pre engaged has 130 teeth but I could be wrong.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the shape of the teeth on the flywheel is different for the 2 types.
The ring gear for the pre engaged starter also has a chamfer on the teeth to allow easier engagement. The most reliable way to tell which you have is to count the teeth.
