Has anyone tried it?
Quite tempted by the challenge, but has anyone tried in a BEC?
Cheers
Mike
I've just read Mike's article and would be up for giving it a go - would be good to gather a handful of BEC's for it though, safety in numbers and all that!
WTF???? am i missing sumat??
Steve, it does say you can enter as a team!
Sorry Craig, should have added a bit of detail.
GOME = Guild of Motor Endurance

There is an annual tour around Europe, sort of against the clock, like a road rally. This year it's South of France to Rome in 5 days.
It's open to kit cars, limited production sportscars and one off specials.
But, as far as I am aware, no-one has attempted it in a BEC, yet!
Cheers
Mike
Hicost does this...GOME... every year (CEC)......I am pretty sure Jasper has navigated for Hicost in the past, and Jasper used to have a BEC......so I
guess Jasper would have an idea if it is feasible to do it in a BEC......maybe drop him a u2u?

Used to go on a SELOC (Lotus forum) yearly tour round Europe. The aim was all to meet up on the Stelvio pass for dinner then bugger off home again! 6
or 7 sevens countries, many mountain passes and several thousand miles in a week.
Hmm would be interesting to try in the kit car.
There is a possibility we are going to do it this year, will wait and see how the Mallory event goes.
The car did Le mans ok with two up n camping gear so don't see why not
Becuaes it's based on getting to the checkpoints on your aloted time, and you get penalised for being early, I reckon it's more than
feasible if you stick to the average speeds and avoid the temptation to nail it at any point.
Keeping the stress off the engine, I can't imagine why it couldn't be done.
A the very least, I would have a spare engine prepped and ready to be dispatched for same day courrier delivery, just in case.
It might almost be worth giving the thing a go in a CEC just to get the measure of it first.
Jon, I see you have entered the Mallory event as a Locost. Does that mean there is room for an MK team?
I think I'll try to find a navigator first, then try a few camping trips to practice loading the car / stressing it.
Steve, spare engine on a pallet, check!
Mike
