Another Road Tax question

If one changes the engine to one that falls into a more expensive tax bracket, what does one do with the current tax disc?

i.e. letter to DVLA with new engine details (number and capacity) is sent off - is it the DVLA that sort out the tax or does one need to cash in the current disc and buy a new one?

*cough* its still the same capacity *cough*

I'd be tempted to avoid any complication - you can guarantee nobody will be able to give you a straight answer to this one - and hold-off sending off the capacity change until a week before the tax disc runs out, and put the date as the actual day.

Probably a lot easier than dealing with whatever paperwork is thrust upon you.

It's not a letter you need to send, you just edit the V5c in the changes section and send it off. DVLA will deal with it from there. Not sure what happens with the part-used tax disc, but that's not your problem.
