3M Di-noc carbon fiber is amazing!!

So started with this sorry looking dash...




And £20 later and a hair dryer i have this:






Must say this stuff is awesome, so easy to work with and the finish is great!
So versatile too, i came fairly close to covering my spherical gearknob but that was just wishful thinking lol!

My dash needs some fettling - maybe this is the way to go.

Make the new dash from hardboard and clag this stuff on - is it actually carbon, or is it a wrap?

Its not carbon it is vinyl. Cheapest place is ebay.

I used it on the boot lid, dash and panels in the engine bay.

Yeh just a wrap, doesn't quite look like the real stuff but still a damn good finish!
Got mine from ebay, £20 bought me 1m by 30cm.
It was the proper 3m stuff. There's loads of cheap versions on ebay too but i have no idea if these are any good or not?

This is true Blake,however, what are the alternatives? Real Carbon Fibre at much cost, bare steel or ally, painted steel or ally?
While the DiNoc isn't going to fool anyone for any length of time, that's not why I used it, it is a very nice finish in it's own right.

Given that this is a picture of carob pods and beans, I would have to agree that is looks absolutely nothing like them.

For flat panels (such as a dash), you won't be able to tell the difference between 3M and cheaper stuff. The 3M comes into it's own with compound curves, such as a nosecone.

best bit is that if you've stuck it down and need to lift it back off again, just heat it up and stick it back down and the heat kinda re-sticks the adhesive!
Again, was so much easier to work with than i was expecting, vinyl wrap is the way forwards!
