Grommets

Can anyone suggest a good (i.e. cheap) source of rubber grommets? I'm looking for a bulk bag of assorted sizes.

I looked at Frost's site - nearly £10 + P&P + VAT for 98 pieces - not a bargain...

They've got them at a sensible price - but it's around £4.50 for P&P, + VAT. Bit silly for £2-worth of components!

They were a sensible price though - around £1 for 100.

Overall still cheaper though!

Plus you'd have S**tloads of the buggers

Yes, it shame about the postage though!

Used to be a few hundred yards from where I work - now it's out in the wilds of East London, in the back-streets between Bow and Stratford.

Long tube journey, followed by a long walk, and without the benefit of an armed escort!

Panic over!

I made a list of other stuff needed for my instrumentation and made up a decent order that justified the P&P.

cheers,

David

nothing RS sells is ever a good buy!

I worked with the owners of a company that supplier RS - they put a 40% uplift on all the prices.

Farnell are usually always the better option, and will sell to anyone. RS still have this slight reluctance to deal with joe public.

I have the MAIN RS sepot 15 minutes drive away - its right next to the Rockingham Oval at Corby.

I've had no problems with them - they seem pretty relaxed about selling to me.

No, they're not the cheapest - but they are often far cheaper than my next option, Maplin! The other advantage is that if they show it on their web site, they've got it in stock and I'll get it within a couple of days.

I've never got to grips with Farnell - I've always found their web site unhelpful and difficult to use.

rgds,

David

A few weeks back I walked through Stratford bus station just after lunchtime - talk about people you don't want to make sudden movements near to! (for those that don't know the area, Stratford bus station is fairly new, and quite well designed - it's just the clients...)

regards (with tongue firmly in cheek...)

A few years ago, RS absolutly refused to deal with hobbyists - its a fairly recent change.

Farnell do a great selection of (6!!!) catalogs, just like RS. Give Farnell a call and ask them to send you a set. If that dont work, ask them to send em to you at work.

They used to have a 'farnell industrial' catalog which was well worth having. As im an electronics guy i get the leccy ones mostly.
