Long Distance Locosting
All this talk of mongolia has got me thinking.
Has anybody ever considered doing something really silly in their locost? I'm a real fan of hardcore rallying, none of this support nonsense,
just a bunch of hammers, some zip ties, wd40, a crap map, broken compass and off you go.
A locost, to me fits the type of car you'd want. Its simple, its quick, light, and easy to work on. Bits are easy to find, or fabricate, and
they are easily adapted to different tasks.
I find mine pretty comfortable, and am thinking, a bigger fuel tank and i can get quite a reasonable range, put in some luggage space in the boot
cavity, and a rail on the back for spare wheel, jerry cans, and some basic tools, and off you go.
Anybody fancy a trip then?

If mines is ready on time (it's at Mac1 for finishing and SVA while I'm at work) then I'm taking it to Le Mans then, route slightly
undecided but, into Switzerland then across the mountains into Italy then Slovenia. Coming back is over a couple of nights so may be more of a mad
dash than a twisty back road blat.
I'm hoping the guys can get it done on time but they're not talking to me at the moment. I hope that means they are busy!!!!
ETA: It's not quite Mongolia but hopefully sufficient for a post SVA shakedown.

You seen the Guild of Motor Endurance (GOME) site:
http://www.guildofmotorendurance.co.uk
Hicost and Jasper from here, plus a couple of other Locost'ers do them.
2 years ago Hicost did 5000 round Morocco!
Cheers,
James

GOME rallies are fantastic, great value for money - recon on about £200 a day per person, two in a car - and that's fully marshalled with tulip
route plans, overnight hotel with food, petrol and lots of charging through mostly European mountains and twisty back roads ..... it's what
I'm building my car for ....
