Success at last!

Today I did just over 50 miles non-stop!
Nothing fell off.
The temperature gauge stayed mid-scale.
The ATF stayed in the gearbox and at a civilised temperature.
Sumpguard clipped a few stones.
I got wet (rain/spray).
Happy at last!!

Immediate needs now are a smaller steering wheel and MJ; and possibly raise seat about 1".
Thanks to one and all who have been so helpful over the past few months with advice and encouragement.

The car first went on the road on 3rd April, by the way!
It's been a torrid tale over the past three months involving a change of both engine and gearbox.

I'll see what I can do, Alex!
(consults crystal ball and invokes Cherokee anti-rain gyration)
...looks as if the weekend should be OK around these parts anyway.

I have had 2x trips in 6x weeks.
The 1st, approx 1200 x miles around Ireland, the 2nd, approx 500 x miles around Isle of Man.
Gear lever fell off both times (wont happen again after being welded up)
Apart from that everything spot on.
Got a little wet on both occasions, but hey, who cares???

Something about this, so very wrong.....I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn`t like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

50 miles may not sound much, but not long ago I couldn't do 5 (five) without a boil-up!

Hi Graham,
Yes, the SUs are fine - I put them straight on to my 'new' blue engine and it fired up first time.
My sphere of operations has now increased well beyond the town limits so I'll have to get to a show someday - certainly Exeter in ?November. (bit far from Hull!)
There's a possibility of heading to Yorkshire later in the year.
Cheers,
John.

------------------------------------------------------Sorry.
I not gloating or taking the p**s.
I just trying to say stick at it, and as long as you have "AA"/RAC etc, dont be afraid of a long journey.
