Anyone used racelogic traction control?

Anyone fitted it or tried it in anger?

Seems a good system, Just curious how it is in the real world?

I spoke at length to them when designing my Cobra's ignition. They stopped making their system for MSD so I went for second best system with distributor just to allow me to fit their system.
Paid for the sensors, built them in, modified everything and then they told me they can't guarantee the distributor system. Then they said they wouldn't sell me one anyway. Then they said they would but the box in the stores was empty! Then they said they would make me a new one.
That was two years ago.
Bottom line is they won't refund the cost of the sensors, and are still stringing me along even now.
So be careful.

Since then I have decided it is better to spend the money on driver training.

I fitted it to my S14a 200SX (~370bhp).

Worked quite well but I think it would've been even better it had individual rear ABS wheel sensors rather than just one in the diff.

The launch control is also fun.

However not sure its really needed in a kit car unless its an Ultima or something like a lot of power!

Also a lot of standalone ECU's now offer similar functions as an option so if you're going this route already might be worth finding out how much extra it would cost as an ECU option?

Fair comment

I guess its even more necessary if you've got a torque curve that come in a big step - i.e. forced induction?

Is that how you're getting your crazy horses?

Im hoping to limit the torque lower down to aid traction, nothing over 300ftlbs and that will be up around 7k.

Yeah, its a 5 pot with a big turbo!

i had it on my 1997 fiat bravo that was running a 290bhp 2.0turbo engine from a lancia delta evo 2. was a fantastic bit of kit. kept me alive more than a few times. you can still have fun with it on as you can vary the percentage of intervention.

just to add my mate also had it on his 5pot fiat coupe turbo engined bravo and it worked just as well for him.

will see if i can dig up the youtube videos of it in action on track out cornering various exotica.

Never used it myself on the Scoobies, but one of my mates had it on his modded Supra. Apparently it was a must with the big power and rwd in the wet.

Ash, you moved from Sittingbourne??

From what I'm hearing people either love it or hate it!

How hard was it to install? I have 4 abs sensors already fitted, Id imagine it goes in the signal leads to the coils somewhere, the injector clips and the tacho feed?

Its not too tricky.

Its cuts the fuel in an adjustable manner to get the required power loss (i.e. maybe just make one of the cylinders misfire).

Its always enough of a cut to make a misfire fire rather than running lean (as I was concerned about this).

Fitting is not too bad, as you say, you "T" into each of the ABS sensors then the RLTC sits in between the loom going to the injectors (so it can fiddle with the signal).

I read the fitting manual this evening and it all makes sense, but 2 things:

1) they come in 4, 6 and 8 cylinder versions, but Ive heard of them fitted to 5cyls, so how?

2) I understand how they tee into the injector loom, but I dont understand the wheel sensors so well. Id be using OE abs sensors, but not connected to the abs, they would only be used for this (Im using mx 5 uprights so I have the mounts, sensors, rings etc in place)

In the manual it says to tee into one of the wires from the sensor only?

normally only one wire is a signal, the other is an earth wire. I personally don`t like this as noise is a problem occasionaly with some setups, normally at low speeds, when the signal is voltage low (noise is relatively high).
I would recommend using ballanced microphone cable to reduce the effect of noise.

I`m putting traction control on a 4x4 car mainly for track day use to enable maximium cornering speed.
